The Business Changed. So the Podcast Is Changing Too.

If you've followed my work for any length of time, you've heard me talk about sales. A lot. I've spent years teaching women business owners how to sell more confidently, communicate what they do, build relationships, network intentionally, and grow their businesses.

I'm not walking away from any of that.

God has highlighted some things for me and I've realized those things are part of a much bigger conversation, and it's a conversation I'm increasingly interested in having with Christian women in business.

Who are you becoming while you build your business?

We spend an enormous amount of time talking about what we're building. How do I get more clients? How do I increase revenue? How do I grow my network? How do I become a better salesperson? What's the next strategy that's going to help me get where I want to go?

Those aren't bad questions. I'm a businesswoman. I very much care about building, and other women building, profitable businesses, and I don't think Christian women need to apologize for wanting to build them.

Lately, though, I've been asking another question:

Am I becoming the woman capable of leading well what I'm asking God to give me?

That question has changed the direction of my business. Now it's changing the direction of my podcast too.

The Leaders’ Table Changed What I Want to Build

Over the last year, I've been building The Leaders’ Table, a networking community for Christian women in business in North Houston. Networking was an important part of the original idea, and it still is. I've built a significant amount of business through relationships, referrals, conversations, and introductions. I know what can happen when the right people know one another.

I wanted women around The Leaders’ Table to create those kinds of relationships. I wanted referrals to happen. I wanted women hiring one another, collaborating, making introductions, and creating opportunities together.

And those things started happening.

But I also started noticing something else.

A woman would bring a business problem to the Table and someone would ask the question she hadn't considered. Someone would share an experience and another woman would realize she wasn't the only one dealing with it. One woman would see an opportunity another had completely overlooked.

Sometimes a woman needed encouragement.

Sometimes she needed an introduction.

Sometimes she needed another strong businesswoman willing to look at her and say, “I don't think that's actually the problem.”

That's when something clicked for me: The Table isn't the outcome. It's the mechanism. Relationships aren't the final destination either.

Becoming the leader God has called us to be is the actual point.

I Don't Want to Build a Business Around Selling More Stuff

For years, I've done what a lot of experts do. I knew how to teach something, so I created something people could buy to learn it.

There was always another program, another workshop, another launch, another offer.

There's nothing wrong with that model.

I just realized I don't want to spend the next several years of my business constantly figuring out what I'm going to sell next.

I want to build The Leaders’ Table.

I want to build a place where Christian women become stronger business leaders.

Women who communicate confidently. Women who make better decisions. Women who know how to sell without compromising who they are. Women who build and steward meaningful relationships. Women who can handle difficult conversations. Women who think differently about money, opportunity, responsibility, and influence.

Women who don't just ask God for more, but are willing to ask themselves "Who do I need to become to steward more well?"

That's the business I'm building now. Once I became clear about that, I knew my podcast couldn't keep having the same conversation it had always had.

The podcast is now The Leaders’ Table with Lindsay Fletcher, and it's for Christian women in business who want to become stronger, wiser, more confident, biblically grounded leaders.

We'll still talk about sales.

We'll talk about networking and business relationships.

We'll talk about communication, money, profitability, decision-making, collaboration, competition, leadership, influence, family, calling, and stewardship.

But we're also going to talk about what happens inside us while we're building all of those things. I don't think the next level of our businesses always requires another strategy - it may require something different from us as leaders.

I've Started Asking, “Where Did We Get That?”

There's another conversation I've become increasingly interested in having. I've started questioning some things I've believed, or simply picked up somewhere along the way, about what Christian women are supposed to look like.

What are we supposed to think about money? Is ambition automatically dangerous? Does humility require us to minimize what we're good at? Can a Christian woman want to build something really successful? Can we want influence without making influence our identity? Can we care deeply for our families and also believe God has equipped us to build and lead in the marketplace?

Sometimes I've found myself stopping and asking: Where did I get that?

One of the examples that got me thinking about this is the Proverbs 31 woman.

Have We Been Underselling the Proverbs 31 Woman?

I've heard a lot over the years about the Proverbs 31 woman's work ethic and the way she cares for her household. That's in the passage, and I'm certainly not arguing that we should ignore it. At some point I started noticing everything else she was doing too

Proverbs 31:16 tells us she considers a field and buys it, and from her earnings she plants a vineyard. Verse 18 says she sees that her trading is profitable. She makes goods and sells them. She supplies merchants. She plans ahead. She manages resources. She's generous. She speaks with wisdom.

And I found myself thinking:

How did I miss this part ?

She's not only busy. She's making decisions. She's generating income. She's investing. She's participating in commerce. She's managing resources. She's profitable.

Profitable.

She's leading really well.

I'm not a theologian, and I have no intention of pretending to be one on this podcast. I'm a Christian woman who has spent a long time in business, and I've started asking questions about some of the beliefs I've carried into my own leadership journey and business.

Sometimes I'll share what I've found when I've gone looking for myself. Sometimes I'll tell you what I'm still wrestling with. Sometimes I'm going to invite someone to The Leaders’ Table who understands Scripture or a particular subject far better than I do to help us think through things.

More Conversations. Fewer Lectures.

That's another change I'm excited about.

I love teaching, and I'm not going to stop. There will still be solo episodes when there's something I want to unpack.

And I want this podcast to include a lot more conversations.

I want to talk with Christian women entrepreneurs and business owners. I want women who lead organizations. I want experts who can challenge the way we think. I want women who've succeeded, failed, changed direction, made hard decisions, wrestled with their calling, or learned something the hard way. I especially want to introduce listeners to more women from my local North Houston area.

There are some incredible Christian women building businesses and leading in my own community. I want you to hear their stories, their perspective, and what they're learning about leadership.

This Isn't About Giving You More to Do

We're also moving the podcast into seasons. I have no desire to publish another episode simply because another week showed up on the calendar. I'd rather choose conversations worth having, spend a season exploring them, bring the right women to the Table, and then make room before we begin the next one.

The internet isn't suffering from a lack of content, and Christian women in business don't need another podcast that leaves them with seven more things they aren't doing well enough.

I want something different to happen here.

I want an episode to make you think.

Maybe you'll question something you've assumed for years.

Maybe you'll finally have a conversation you've been avoiding.

Maybe you'll realize you've been calling something humility when it's actually fear.

Maybe you'll rethink how you're handling money.

Maybe you'll become more confident asking for the sale.

Maybe another woman's story will help you make a decision you've been afraid to make.

Maybe you'll recognize that what your business needs next isn't another strategy.

Maybe it needs a different version of you leading it.

The Goal Isn't Belonging. It's Becoming.

Community matters to me. Relationships matter enormously. I believe Christian women need other strong Christian women around them.

But I want to be clear about what I'm building:

Belonging is valuable, but it's part of the mechanism.

The relationships are part of the mechanism.

The conversations are part of the mechanism.

The encouragement is part of the mechanism.

The challenge is part of the mechanism.

The question is: Who are you becoming because you're at the Table?

Are you communicating differently?

Are you making stronger decisions?

Are you handling difficult conversations better?

Are you becoming more confident talking about money?

Are you building healthier business relationships?

Are you willing to make the ask?

Are you stewarding opportunities differently?

Can you carry more responsibility well?

Are you becoming better prepared to lead whatever God entrusts to you next?

That's what interests me.

Not simply what we're building but who we're becoming while we build it.
